Kathryn Sanders is a local artist, residing in Athenree with her husband and three children. Growing up in the Bay of Plenty, Kathryn was inspired from an early age by local artist Timo Rannali and drew inspiration from the coast.
Over the years, art has always been a hobby but after the birth of their third child, it became a source of both joy and healing after being diagnosed with postnatal depression.
As Kathryn has continued to pursue her art over the last few years she has enjoyed the process of learning and discovering her voice as an artist. As an avid nature lover, surfer, and mother of young children, her art is highly influenced by the use of a bold bright palette depicting the fleeting beauty of a flower in bloom, a sunset, our native flora and fauna, and of course the ocean.
Kathryn hopes that her art will bring the viewer a moment of pause where they can be transported to a moment in time, leaving them with a sense of peace and joy.
