Fibre creations by members of Pahoia Creative Fibre
For this Exhibition Creative Fibre has drawn their inspiration from the swift tidal movements in the Tauranga basin, through the windblown grasslands to the dense hillside forests of the Kaimai ranges.
Join Creative Fibre in celebrating the exceptional talent of their local fibre artists and their passion for fibre crafts and textile arts. From hand-spun yarn to delicate lace knitting, from luxurious knitwear through felted containers to intricate weaves, there is a range of skills on display and for sale.
Creative Fibre members have created these works using wool, cotton, silk, alpaca and other fibres.
They have spun, weaved, felted, knitted and crocheted these items for your enjoyment. Their mission is to explore, create and inspire with fibre. Creative Fibre hopes you’ll agree that the works in this Exhibition do all three.
At the centre of the Exhibition is the range of papillon shawls made by members in a group challenge in 2003. These colourful shawls reflect the patterns of imaginary butterflies. With this Exhibition, the Creative Fibre group introduces itself as ‘Creative Fibre: Kaimai Coast’. Their members come from the length of the coastal side of the Kaimai Ranges, from Athenree to Te Puna. Creative Fibre meet each month in both Omokoroa and Katikati, where they welcome anyone interested in developing their crafting skills.
