Prior to the construction of his sculpture Hamish Mclntyre had been making wind vanes for six or seven years and during that time they evolved from expressing movement to also serve as wind directed indicators. He says rocks in the sky are out of their normal context and seeing them gently moving appeals to many people. ‘They are about balance, and that, after all, is what life is about,’ he said. Larger wind vanes involved up to 200 hours of work for Hamish. Donated by Katikati residents Alan and Peggy Goodyear.
