This piece was an entry in the 2017 NZ Mural Contest and Arts Festival Sculpture Competition, the theme for the festival was “Children are our Future”.

These “pillars of society” have ignored the growing environmental and social issues confronting our society.  Battered relics of the past, they represent flawed old ways of thinking.  The hope for the future is our children, who with open eyes and minds can take the lead.  This group is made from hundred-year-old totara strainer posts from the Waikato, and macrocarpa.
