This is a stainless steel sculpture which helps us remember the sailing ships that brought the first Irish settlers to Katikati in 1875.  Also for many years the only form of transport to and from Katikati was by sailing ship; the river was the only road.  The White family donated the sculpture to Katikati Open Air Art to be erected in the town.
